Dr. Hussein Al-Mufti successfully completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery in 2005 from the University of Baghdad/Iraq. He then moved to Jordan due to political conflicts in his country and started practicing dentistry there for a couple of years. He then started training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at the University of Malaya in Malaysia for two years. Upon completion, he was awarded the Chevening scholarship from the British Council to start his Master’s Degree in Public Health at the university of Glasgow/Scotland. He then started practicing in England and received training working at Bradford Royal Infirmary (Part of Bradford Teaching Hospitals) as a Senior House Officer in Oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr. Al-Mufti decided to move to Canada and join the love of his life and start a family in Ottawa. He immediately started his qualification exams to obtain his dental license in Canada. He then joined the International Dental Degree Program (IDDP) at the University of Manitoba. Upon graduation, he received multiple awards such as; Dr. William Bloom Prize-for the highest overall average in Oral Surgery, Dr. Joseph Freeman Memorial Prize- for the highest standing in Oral Surgery & the Canadian Academy Of Periodontology Award- for graduating student with the highest standing in Periodontology.

Continuing Dental education has always been a passion of Dr. Al-Mufti. Throughout his years in Canada, he received multiple certifications in IV sedation, Dental Implant Placement, Root Canal Treatment and Medical Emergencies. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (BAOMS), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), Canadian Dental Society (CDS), Ontario Dental Association (ODA) and the Ottawa Dental Society (ODS).

Dr. Al-Mufti loves to volunteer and participate in social events, the most recent one was Peru where the team managed to provide dental treatment for more than 300 locals.

Swimming, Waterpolo and working –out is how Dr. Al-Mufti fills his spare time. He won golden medals in international championships in 50m breaststroke swimming. He also enjoys traveling and watching soccer specifically the Premiere League (huge Chelsea FC supporter!).
